This event is brought to you by Cat who is a TRE® Certified Facilitator as well as Connected Breathwork Facilitator and also a facilitator and practitioner of Shamanism and Meditation.

Trauma and Tension Release Exercises, in short TRE® is used worldwide to treat PTSD and other mental health imbalances and is all about trauma and shaking it out of the body.

TRE® consists of an innovative series of exercises that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension and trauma. The exercises safely activate a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating that causes a release in muscular tension, calming down the nervous system through shutting down the “flight or fight” response and allowing the body to enter a state of natural relaxation.
This technique works with the body, creating an opportunity for the body to use its innate intelligence and ability to release traumatic energy. This is the energy that was not allowed to be released at the time of the traumatic event taking place.
The exercises performed during TRE® are not of a strenuous manner and they happen at a slow pace.

After performing the physical exercises standing up, you will then enter the tremor phase as you are lying down.

A TRE® session is engaging and falls under somatic practices but there is a rest phase at the end which gives the participant the opportunity for integration.

By attending a TRE® session with a certified facilitator, you may learn how to carry on doing TRE® on your own, at home if you chose to.

If you feel you need this type of therapy in your life, we would be thrilled to welcome you to our space.

How to prepare for the session:

  • It is best not to eat a big meal before – we recommend at least 2h fast before the session
  • Ensure you have access to the following during our session: water, yoga mat (there are some available at the studio), pillow and blanket.
  • Arrive 10 minutes before the start of the session (@11:20) – we will start at 11:30 pm sharp.
  • The session will run at The Awake Holistic Therapies venue (see address and map at the bottom of the page)

It is contraindicated to participate in a TRE®​ session if you suffer with: epilepsy, physical injuries (broken bones, strains, sprains, chronic aches), heart conditions (surgery, pace makers, arrhythmia), irregular blood pressure (too high or too low) or if you take medication for hypo or hyperglycaemia.

TRE®​ is also contraindicated for people that have recently been through any type of surgery and during pregnancy.

It is also not recommended to attend a TRE® session if you have been diagnosed with the following: manic/depressive disorder, bipolar, schizophrenia, psychosis, borderline personality disorder.

All therapies provided by Awake Holistic Therapies are for the sole use of the participant. It is unsafe for participants to pass on to a 3rd party any of our teachings and practices without being certified as a facilitator in these practices.

TRE® can only be passed on in a safe, responsible and professional manner by an official Certified TRE® provider.
